Premier Division:

Oakwood vs Hendon - MGBSFL Premier Division Game Of The Week

Venue: Ark Academy

An absolutely fantastic Premier Division game of the week to kick off the return to football and the MGBSFL in game week Seven. This is a fixture that everyone looks for when the fixtures are released and with a return to the league for David Garacz this is set to be an absolute firecracker of a game. Oakwood finished up before Lockdown with an outstanding 4-1 win over HMH which has placed them well in the league and spirits will be high in the Oakwood camp to come up against Hendon. Hendon finished up before lockdown with David Garbacz returning to the helm and securing  win in the cup and Garbacz will be keen to get off to a good start in the league and we can see him securing the 3 points this weekend as Hendon look to continue their good form.

MGBSFL Prediction: Oakwood 1-2 Hendon

HMH vs North London Raiders

Venue: The Hive

This is a game that everyone in the MGBSFL is looking forward to, the reigning Division 1 champions travel to The Hive this Sunday to face an HMH team who are out of form at the moment. Prior to Lockdown HMH faced back to back defeats against Oakwood and Maccabi London FC and they will be hoping that they come back refreshed after a month off and get back to winning ways in the league. The two teams faced each other last year in the Peter Morrison and HMH ran out winners, however this year North London Raiders look a different proposition and have made their presence known this season in the Premier Division. Raiders are coming into this game off the back of 2 Wins so spirits will be high and this will be an interesting game with the return of the MGBSFL.

Both Strike forces have been on top form this season with Oscar Wagner (HMH) and Liron Mannie (NLR) both hitting the back of the net in several games, so it could come down to who has their shooting boots on tight on Sunday.

A tough game to call for us so we are sitting on the fence, but this is set to be a fantastic game at The Hive on Sunday.

MGBSFL Prediction: HMH 1-1 North London Raiders

Fairlop vs North London Galaxy

Venue: Seven Kings School

This is set to be a fantastic game on Sunday! Galaxy started the season well, and following a rough patch against Maccabi London FC got back to winning ways when they beat Faithfold 6-1 and they will be hoping to continue their good form and will hope Joey Gold continues to hit the back of the net for them when they travel to Essex on Sunday. Fairlop on the other hand are having a mixed season but competing well in the Premier Division, We think their quality will shine through when they welcome Galaxy to Essex in what will be a fiercely competitive game

MGBSFL Prediction: Fairlop 2-1 North London Galaxy

Maccabi London FC vs Faithfold White

Venue: Rowley Lane

Maccabi London FC are the team to catch so far this season with a 100% record so far this season. Max Kyte has really got his team playing and they are hard to beat. MLFC are coming into this game following a fantastic 1-0 victory over HMH before the break and we can't see that 100% record being broken this sunday as they welcome Faithfold to Rowley Lane. Faithfold have struggled so far this season and with Rowley Lane proving the hardest place to travel this season this could be a rough morning for Faithfold White.

MGBSFL Prediction: Maccabi London FC 3-0 Faithfold White

Jewdinese vs Faithfold Blue

Venue: St James

GAME POSTPONED

Division One

London Bears vs Borussia Barnet - MGBSFL Division One Game of the Week

Venue: Spikes Bridge Park

This week’s MGBSFL Division One Game will originate from Southall, with the league leaders Borussia Barnet travelling to face fourth placed London Bears. The Bears were disappointing last time out, losing 4-1 against Club De Chigwell, however with a strong squad available for this weekend’s game, James Harpin believes his side could end Barnet’s unbeaten start to the season, “Sunday’s game is massive for us. We are happy to be back in. Everyone knows Borussia Barnet are the team to beat in this division and we have struggled to get near them in previous contests. However, we believe we are in a strong position going into this game. A win takes us into second with a game in hand depending on other results. It is a massive opportunity that we have to take. Being at home is a big advantage, we have won both our home games so far this season. We have the strongest squad we have had against Borussia Barnet so far so hopefully we can match them for quality. Nothing would make me happier than beating them on Sunday.”

Barnet’s co-manager Bradley Papier is hoping his side can continue their 100% winning start to the season in their first game back from the break this Sunday “After a long month off we couldn’t be happier to be back. No one has even looked at a football since our last game which was our best performance and result of the season. We’ve been great so far 6/6, and we have 2 huge league games coming up against Bears and FC Team next week. If we can win them both it’s a massive step to securing the title we feel we’re owed from last season.Bears have given us comfortable wins in the past but they seem to have really got it together this season and I have no doubt it’s going to be a really tough game after a month off, hopefully we can come out on top.”

Team News: Rory Carlson is back from the USA and after completing his isolation period will be in the squad. Jared Rand is back from Uni and may feature.

MGBSFL Prediction: London Bears 1-2 Borussia Barnet

Brook Farm Rovers vs Faithfold Green

Venue: Capital City Academy

In normal circumstances it may be a worry for a Brook Farm Rovers side that sit in the relegation zone with no points going into December but Brook Farm have played just two league games so far this season, they will however be desperate to get their first points of the season this Sunday. Rovers’ Dan Cohen spoke of his delight to be back in action ahead of this Sunday’s game “It’s great to be back! We’ve got Faithfold this weekend in our first home game of the season. We’ve actually only played two league games and been unlucky to lose both so we know we need a win to get our season up and running properly. We played each other in the cup last year so we are aware it will be a tough game but the squad is excited and we just want to enjoy playing football again. Here’s hoping for no injuries and three valuable points.” Last time out Faithfold got their first win of the season after defeating Mill Hill Dons 1-0 in an impressive performance. Like their opponents they have also played just two league games so far this season, so both teams know that if they can pick up some results in the weeks to come, that they will close the gap on the teams above them.

MGBSFL Prediction: Brook Farm Rovers 1-2 Faithfold Green

FC Team vs Temple Fortune

Venue: Aycliffe Park

FC Team and Temple Fortune meet for the second time this season this Sunday, the two sides faced off on the opening day with FC Team coming out on top with a 2-0 victory. Since then Fortune are not the only team who have had difficulties breaking through the FC Team defence, they have conceded just two goals so far, the best defensive record in the division. They will be hoping to become more clinical in front of goal in the weeks to come, they have scored 10 less goals than the leaders Borussia Barnet. Their opponents Temple Fortune sit bottom of the table and will be hoping to pick up results in an attempt to stay in the division.

MGBSFL Prediction: FC Team 2-0 Temple Fortune

Hertswood Vale vs Paris Saint-Jewmain

Venue: Harefield Academy

Hertswood Vale return to the action this Sunday and they do so in a new home at Harefield Academy. Vale manager Jacob Emanuel spoke ahead of Sunday’s game “We return to action for the first time since 25th October when we beat Temple Fortune. Irritatingly for us, the break came at a time when I felt we were really starting to gather some steam after a slow start to our season. Nonetheless, it’s still very early on in the season despite finding ourselves in December already. Sunday’s game is the first of 3 important games at home, and we’ll be looking for maximum points from all 3 matches. Sunday’s match against PSJ is one that Danny and I have been looking forward to for some time. Managed by former Vale legend Elio Elia, the squad contains some ex Vale players including our former record scorer Josh Cohen. Having only faced PSJ in friendlies, both of which were crackers with 17 goals in total, we’re keen to see what our first competitive derby brings. It’s an absolutely must win for us and anything but 3 points will be unacceptable.” Paris Saint-Jewmain will be keen to pick up a result, they have not won since the opening day and could find themselves in the midst of a relegation battle if results don’t start to go their way. There is confidence within the camp that their fortunes will change however, the teams continues to gel and are bound to improve as the season goes on.

Team News: The squad returned to training on Wednesday, and we’re boosted by the return of vice-captain Jordan Grant and Charlie Becker for the first time since the opening day. We’re without a few players including Ollie Brill, Tony Gold and Harry Marlow.

MGBSFL Prediction: Hertswood Vale 3-0 Paris Saint Jewmain

MH Dons vs Club De Chigwell

Venue: Brunel University

The Dons may still sit second in the table but the teams around them have games in hand so they know they can not afford many more slip ups if they are to maintain their promotion challenge. “I believe the break came at a good time for us,” said Dons manager Brandon Hammé in the build up to Sunday’s game. “We were starting to let our heads drop and put in our two weakest performances of the season so far, having the opportunity to start afresh will be good for the boys. We know that we can’t afford many more slip ups if we are to maintain our promotion challenge, so it’s incredibly important that we try to get all three points this Sunday. This game looked a lot less challenging on paper when it was first arranged but since then Chigwell have strung together some really impressive results so we know we are going to be in for a difficult game, I’m sure Jose Dobias will have some tricks up his sleeve. We are coming up against a former Don in Ben Rodol, it is bound to be an emotional day for him but we will try to spare the sentiments during the 90 minutes. The boys are up for this and raring to go, we desperately want to keep this challenge alive.”

Their opponents Club De Chigwell would leapfrog the Dons with a win on Sunday, they saw a complete turn in their fortunes just before the break after defeating Brook Farm Rovers and London Bears back to back, after opening the season with four defeats, they will be hoping to maintain that form when the season resumes this weekend. Josh Dobias spoke ahead of the game “This is the first time we’ve come up against MH Dons competitively. Very strong team with good players and we will be looking to make the 45mile schlapp worth it with a win.”

Team News: The Dons were boosted mid week by the return of Josh Moses to training after his long term injury, he should be back in the near future along with Sam Whiteman who also misses out this Sunday. Sam Demby and Josh Marks are also out injured, whilst Jonny May is unavailable. There is no Stanley Offord or Jamie Rones for Chigwell, both miss out through injury

MGBSFL Prediction: MH Dons 1-1 Club De Chigwell

Division Two:

SPEC v Stoke Salmon- MGBSFL Division Two Game Of The Week

Venue: Oakhill Park

SPEC are returning to action after lockdown with confidence after taking four points from their previous two games before the break.

Goals haven’t been a problem for the experienced MGBSFL side, however they will be keen to shore up the defence after letting in four goals last time out to Hampstead Ducks.

SPEC’s gaffer Ricky Lawrence gave us his thoughts ahead of this Sunday’s game, "We're all looking forward to playing football again. Playing in this weather though, not so much!"

Stoke Salmon have been the early season pace setters with fellow new boys NWL Azzuri and will be keen to make it five wins on the bounce this Sunday.

They have conceded just two goals all season, the joint best defence in the whole MGSBFL pyramid. Scoring a massive nineteen goals already, they know they’ll want to carry on this free scoring form.

We spoke to Stoke Salmon’s management prior to Sunday’s game, “To say all the boys are completely buzzing for Sunday is an understatement. The game on Sunday would be big anyway but the fact it’s Spec makes it even more important. Charlie Horne, Scott Gurvitz, Asher Goldberg and The Goat were all signed up for Spec last year and feel that they weren’t given the minutes that they deserved so they are all buzzing to get out there and prove a massive point and continue our winning streak in the league.”

Team News:

Jack Christie will miss out for this week and probably up till Christmas after having surgery on his wrist.

“Schinds returns after working hard throughout lockdown to overcome his injury and there is just that small matter of having the best winger in Jewish football available this week, he will wear the number 10 shirt - oh and we signed Adam Burchell.”

“After spending two weeks locked up in a flat, and returning multiple negative tests, Burch is raring to go and is desperate to show how good he is. He was with us in pre season before being shipped off to the states so he’s buzzing to be back with the boys, playing for a proper team. Unfortunately (or fortunately depends on who you ask) the usual cheerleaders that he’s used to will not be present but Nick Barnett has promised to do a dance from the sidelines every time Burch touches the ball.”

#COYS #SalmonSundays

We can see plenty of goals in this one, with Stoke Salmon coming out on top after 90 minutes. Away win.

MGBSFL Prediction: SPEC 3-6 Stoke Salmon

FC East London Bees v West Hendon Wallabies

Venue: Epping Upper Clapton RFC

The Bees are literally buzzing to get their MGBSFL campaign back under way after back to back defeats before the break.

Having picked up one win from three games, they know that this Sunday’s game against bottom of the table West Hendon Wallabies is one they must win.

We spoke to the Bees gaffer prior to this Sunday’s game, “We are buzzing to return after our lockdown enforced break, and keen to get back to winning ways after a very poor result last time out against Azzuri.”

“We look forward to welcoming West Hendon Wallabies to our home game after our free scoring game last time where we ran out 6-3 victors. Whilst we will be confident we can do the double over them we know that complacency is not something that we can afford.”

“Ethan Deal and Brad Porter remain out with long term injuries. Jay Lawrence is still sidelined but is building up his fitness and we hope to welcome him back in the new year. Liam Stein, James Posner and Tom Newman are all unavailable this week but will be back in the yellow and black against SPEC.”

West Hendon Wallabies are yet to pick up a win this season, and will have highlighted this as a must win game to help get them off the foot of the table.

The Wallabies know how to make it difficult for the opposition, and will be the wanting to recapture the form they had when they took a point off Straw Hat Pirates earlier in the season.

This will be a tight affair, but we see the Bees proving too strong for the Wallabies. Home win.

MGBSFL Prediction: FC East London Bees 3-2 West Hendon Wallabies

Redbridge Jewish Care v Scrabble

Venue: Fairlop

Redbridge have had a disappointing start to the season, picking up just a point from four games. However, they have played some good football, and will want to start converting the good performances into points.

They took league leaders Azzurri all the way at the end of October, losing by just one goal. If they can perform like that this Sunday, three points will be almost guaranteed.

We spoke to Redbridge’s manager David Castle prior to Sunday’s game, “Finally! After a disappointing start to the season in terms of results, we are all really looking forward to getting back on the pitch and getting some points on the board. Our performances have deserved much more than what our league position says and we are looking to go on a run that will push us up the table.

Everybody's attitude has been first class from the first game of the season and we know that it wont be easy to come back after some weeks off but we're ready.”

Scrabble started the season with a win, however they’ve lost the last four games since and the will want to avoid another defeat.

They’ll hope that the mix of youthful and experience players will help them get back on track this Sunday.

We can’t pick a winner in this one, score draw.

MGBSFL Prediction: Redbridge Jewish Care 2-2 Scrabble

Straw Hat Pirates v NWL Azzurri

Venue: TBA

We predict lots of goals, and think Azzurri will be too strong for the Pirates. Away win.

MGBSFL Prediction: Straw Hat Pirates 2-6 NWL Azzurri
