Premier Division:

Jewdinese vs North London Raiders - Premier Division Game of the Week

Venue: St James

Fairlop vs Hendon

Venue: Seven Kings

We really like the look of this game and it is set to be a fantastic morning of football in Essex. David Garbacz men make the journey to Essex following a 2-0 defeat last week to Oakwood and they will be hoping they can find their form again and ensure Garbacz gets back to winning ways. Fairlop on the other hand are sitting 3rd in the league after claiming a last minute winner last week against North London Galaxy, they have been somewhat of a surprise package this year in the Premier Division and they won't make life easy for Hendon on Sunday. Hendon will certainly need to watch out for James Jaconelli who has been in fine goal scoring form since the start. At the start of the season this may have been a Hendon slam dunk however we think they are in for a tough morning on Sunday.

MGBSFL Prediction: Fairlop 2-2 Hendon

HMH vs North London Galaxy

Venue: The Hive

This is the first meeting of these two sides as HMH welcome North London Galaxy to the Hive. Galaxy got off to a good start this season drawing with Oakwood and beating Faithfold 6-1. However with no wins in their last 3 they'll be hoping to put things right on Sunday. HMH just like Galaxy started life this season on top form as they won their first 3 games convincingly. However With defeats to Oakwood and MLFC following the month break came at a welcome time for the boys from The Hive. Last week HMH defeated North London Raiders 4-2 as Oscar Wagner was once again on the scoresheet for HMH and Galaxy will know the key to stopping HMH will be to stop Wagner in front of goal. on the Galaxy side Joey Gold has also had his shooting boots on this season and it won't be an easy morning for the HMH Defence. On balance we think HMH will have too much for Galaxy here, but this is set to be a fantastic game of football.

MGBSFL Prediction: HMH 2-0 North London Galaxy

Faithfold Blue vs London Maccabi FC

Venue: TBC

At the start of the season we may have looked at this game differently, although with MLFC having already dispatched of Faithfold Blue 3-0 and currently unbeaten in the league, We only see this game going one way. Faithfold Blue will be looking for a win here having lost their last 3 games but MLFC look a team on a mission this season and a mission that we don't see ending on Sunday. They are the team in form and we can't see anything but a MLFC win here.

MGBSFL Prediction: Faithfold Blue 0-3 Maccabi London FC

Oakwood vs Faithfold White

Venue: Ark Academy

Faithfold White come into this game off the back of 4 straight defeats and we can't see this game ending any different. Oakwood are in fine form and had it not been for MLFC they would be at the top of the form table in the Premier Division having beaten HMH and Hendon in their last 2 games. Bradley Wine is the man to watch in this one with 4 goals in his last 2 games and if he continues to have his shooting boots on this could be a tough away day for Faithfold. Faithfold will look to sit in and counter but ultimately Oakwood will have too much for them and we think their fine form will continue.

MGBSFL Prediction: Oakwood 4-0 Faithfold White

Division One

Hertswood Vale vs Mill Hill Dons - MGBSFL Game of The Week

Venue: Harefield Academy

Hertswood Vale and the Dons meet for the second time this season, in a fixture which has become one of the biggest rivalries in the MGBSFL today. The rivalry started when both teams joined the MGBSFL back in 2016, since then they have spent every season in the same division. The Dons finished above Vale in both the 2016/17 and 2017/18 campaigns but Vale have finished above their rivals in the previous two campaigns. However the Dons hold the greater head to head record, with Vale winning just once in their last six meetings. The last time these sides faced, they shared the spoils in a thrilling 2-2 draw at Brunel. Hertswood Vale come into the game in the better form, they remain unbeaten and leapfrogged over their rivals last weekend after the Dons were defeated by Club de Chigwell. Hertswood Vale know if they win their game in hand they will move up into the promotion places. “The boys are looking to finish 2020 on a high, after a brilliant year for the club,” Jacob Emmanuel speaking ahead of the Derby. “Another league win going into the Xmas break would put us in a nice position, and show how far we’ve come after a slow and disjointed start to the season. We’ve been excellent over the last couple of games but we know we have a long way in the season still to go, and we’ll need to pick up a serious amount of points to get close to our end goal.” Dons manager Brandon Hammé was extremely frustrated with his side’s performance last week, going as far as to describe it as their worse performance in three years, he spoke about he believes last Sunday’s performance will be a wake up call for the club, “We were all very disappointed in last week’s performance, we were second best in every avenue but worst of all we didn’t apply ourselves in the right way. I am positive that going forward that we won’t have a similar situation arise again, the boys seemed to take on board the message in training this week and it was a very productive session. Vale come into the game in good form, but form often is irrelevant in this fixture, we have a very good record against them so we know we are more than capable of picking up a result. If we apply ourselves in the right way and put in a proper shift, I believe we could bounce back on Sunday and pick up a big result.”

Team News: Vale have a big squad to choose from for Sunday’s game, with only a few long-term absentees missing out. The Dons are without Sam Demby and Sam Stead who are both still recovering from long term injuries. Josh Moses, Josh Cinna and Josh Marks are all back in training and should be available for selection in the upcoming weeks. Sam Whiteman is set to return to the side for the first time since the opening day of the season, as he has recovered from an ankle injury. Josh Tiano and Kane Gilbery are both unavailable.

MGBSFL Prediction: Hertswood Vale 3-0 Mill Hill Dons

Brook Farm Rovers vs London Bears

Venue: Capital City Academy

It was a great day out for Rovers and the Bears last Sunday with Rovers gaining their first points of the season and the Bears crushing Barnet’s unbeaten start to the season in devastating fashion. Brook Farm may sit in 8th place in the table but they have several games in hand over some teams above them, if they were to beat the Bears this Sunday they would leapfrog them in the table if they were to win their games in hand. Player-Manager Dan Cohen was in emphatic goalscoring form once again and he spoke ahead of Sunday’s game “We’ve never played them but clearly they’re a very good side after heavily beating Borussia Barnet so it will be a tough game for sure. Nevertheless, we go into it full of confidence following our first league win last time out. We know how good we can be on our day and we’re looking forward to the challenge.” The Bears Co-Manager James Harpin spoke of the importance of Sunday’s fixture, “Sunday’s game is just as big as last weeks in my opinion. We can’t get too ahead of ourselves because Brook Farm have some quality in their side. If we can get control of the game early on I can see us winning the game but we can’t let them get into the game. Last time we won a big game, against FC Team, we turned up to our next game far too complacent and we got hammered by Chigwell. I am not allowing this to happen again. A win on Sunday puts us in a great position with Borussia Barnet and FC Team playing each other.”

Team News: Brook Farm’s Oli Assor got injured in last week’s win, he is the only absentee for the team. The Bears have made 3 changes to the squad from last week with Harry Russell, Sam Martin and Tommy Lustigman returning.

MGBSFL Prediction: Brook Farm Rovers 1-3 London Bears

Borussia Barnet vs FC Team

Venue: Bridgestone Arena

Borussia will be keen to forget last week’s defeat in a hurry, it has however been a rare blip in what has been a very strong start to the season. Barnet still sit top of the table on 15 points, 5 points clear of second place Bears, but they have a game in hand. Their opponents on Sunday, FC Team sit in 5th, 8 points behind but have two games in hand, a win for Team would mean they would overtake Barnet if they were to win their games in hand. These two battled to the bitter end last season with FC Team piping Barnet to the post as champions of Division Two by the tightest of margins, expect a tight cagey affair this Sunday. A huge game for both sides.

MGBSFL Prediction: Borussia Barnet 1-1 FC Team

Paris Saint-Jewmain vs Faithfold Green

Venue: Brunel University

It was looking very promising for Paris Saint-Jewmain after the opening day, they got an impressive victory over Club De Chigwell and looked on course for a productive season, since then they have yet to score a goal and are set for a relegation battle. They need to start picking up points in order to avoid the drop and Sunday could prove to be a turning point in their season, a win would see them move out the relegation spots and overtake their opponents Faithfold Green. Faithfold have the luxury of games in hand over the teams above them, at the moment they find themselves near the bottom of the table but if they were to take the advantage with their games in hand they would shoot right into the promotion race. An important game for PSJ’s survival chances, whilst it could prove to be a game that Faithfold set their promotion intentions.

MGBSFL Prediction: PSJ 0-2 Faithfold Green

Temple Fortune vs Club de Chigwell

Venue: Silver Jubilee Park

Temple Fortune will be desperate to claim their first points of the season this Sunday, they remain rooted to the bottom of the table. Club de Chigwell were looking like they were in the midst of a relegation battle after losing their opening two games but since then they have won their last three league games, shooting right up the table. They now sit in third place, just one point off the promotion places heading into Sunday’s game, “We are on a good run winning the last 3 but this isn’t the time to get complacent, said Chigwell manager Josh Dobias. “Temple Fortune are a good side and beat us last season. We need to be at our very best in order to finish 2020 with a win.”

Team News: No Jamie Rones, Joe Klein or Max Aston for Chigwell due to injuries/ being unavailable.

MGBSFL Prediction: Temple Fortune 0-2 Club de Chigwell

Division Two

Hampstead Ducks vs Stoke Salmon - MGBSFL Division Two Game Of The Week

Venue: Edgwarebury Park

Hampstead Ducks return to MGSBFL action for the first time since 1st November. After over 6 weeks off, the Ducks are raring to go and get their Division Two challenge for promotion back under way.

Both the Ducks and Salmon are undefeated heading into this top of the table clash. With the Ducks winning two and drawing two from the opening four games.

Table toppers Stoke Salmon come into the game off the back of a 3-1 win against SPEC last Sunday, and will be keen to continue their title challenging form.

We spoke to the Stoke Salmon gaffer prior to Sunday's clash, "Massive game this week, we know the Ducks will be up for it and reports are telling me that they are quietly confident that they will beat us. I have been told that they believe the salmons to be ‘an average team’ who haven’t really been tested yet. We will be looking to do everything we can to make sure we get the 3 points on Sunday. The Ducks aren’t to be underestimated and we are aware of the quality they have all over the pitch."

"Team News: Burch still available after a brief cameo last week. We’ll be looking to be more efficient in front of goal this week with Bleetman & Flax sure to feature. VC Scott Gurvitz availability will be subject to a late fitness test whilst Jonny Halmer will be in the team looking to build on an impressive performance last week. Jack Christie & LG still missing through injury."

We can see plenty of goals in this top of the table clash between two undefeated teams, but we think Stoke Salmon will take all three points come Sunday.

MGBSFL Prediction: Hampstead Ducks 2-6 Stoke Salmon

NWL Azzurri vs West Hendon Wallabies

Venue: Spikes Bridge Park

NWL Azzurri are also back in action after 6 weeks off, and are ready to challenge again for the Division Two top spot. They are the leagues top scorers with a massive 26 goals, and come into Sunday's game having won all four games so far.

It's already starting to look like a two horse race between the two new teams of Azzurri and Stoke Salmon, and Azzurri know that only three points will do in this game.

Azzurri's manager Spencer Saffer gave us his thoughts prior to Sunday's game, "Looking forward to finally getting back out onto the pitch against West Hendon, we went to see them in there game again stoke salmon and the table really doesn’t do them Justice as stoke salmon scraped through that game by the skin off there teeth, they have a quality left back so we will be well aware and avoid an upset, we want to the league title."

Team news: Player/Chairman Sam Morris finally returns for the Christmas break with 3 goals and 4 assists in just 1 game, he’ll be looking to add to that Sunday.

West Hendon Wallbies sit bottom of the table, and will be wanting to pull off a huge upset against undefeated Azzurri. They know they can score plenty of goals, but it is defensive woes that may come to haunt them in Sunday's game.

We're predicting a convincing home win for NWL Azzurri.

MGBSFL Prediction: NWL Azzurri 5-1 West Hendon Wallabies

Redbridge Jewish Care vs Straw Hat Pirates

Venue: Fairlop

Redbridge Jewish Care come into Sunday's game after picking up their first win of the season against Scrabble last Sunday. It was a much needed win for the Essex team, and they will be confident they can make it back to back wins this Sunday.

Redbridge Jewish Care manager David Castle told us, "After a pleasing win last Sunday, we are hoping to get another 3 points on the board. The boys are up for it and really want to push on from last week to make sure we’re are challenging at the top come the end of the season. Hayden a pitch is in for Matt Kemp in goal and Matt Niman is back in the squad after injuries have prevented him from playing much this season so far."

Straw Hat Pirates haven't played in six weeks, however they also picked up their first win of the season last time out with a convincing 4-0 win over the Wallabies. Having lost three games already this season, the Pirates know they can't afford to lose another if they want to challenge at the top end of the table.

We're expecting a tight game between these two sides, we are predicting a score draw. Desmond.

MGBSFL Prediction: Redbridge Jewish Care 2-2 Straw Hat Pirates
