Premier Division:

Maccabi London FC vs Fairlop - MGBSFL Premier Division Game Of The Week

@maccabilondonfc        @FairlopFC

Venue: Rowley Lane

Our pick for Premier Division game of the week and a game we really like the look of. Maccabi London FC come into this game 2 wins out of 2 and unbeaten at Rowley Lane so far this season. As we have mentioned the previous two game weeks, Rowley Lane is one of the hardest places to travel in the MGBSFL and we are certain that trend will continue with Fairlop potentially facing a tough morning on Sunday. Fairlop come into this game off the back of a win against Jewdinese two weeks ago so spirits will be high especially after putting 6 past the Jewdinese defence. Max Pincus is currently sitting top of the Premier Division top scorer leaderboard with 4 goals in 2 games and James Jaconelli is not far behind with 3 goals, so MLFC will look to keep those two quiet. Mikey Perkins and Max Kyte have also been in fine goalscoring form following two fantastic results including the 3-0 victory over Faithfold blue two weeks ago. Tough one to predict here but we are going for a home win to make it 3 wins in 3 for Maccabi London FC.

We caught up with MLFC Manager Max Kyte before Sunday's game “Fairlop is always one of toughest games and it’s always a good battle. They will have their eye on overtaking us and we will want to make sure we keep pace with HMH who are looking very dangerous this year”

MGBSFL Prediction: Maccabi London FC 3-1 Fairlop

Dean Furman's Prediction: Maccabi London FC 2-0 Fairlop

Jewdinese vs Faithfold White

@JewdineseFC         @FaithfoldFC

Venue: St James High School

Could this be an early relegation six pointer? Following two losses for Jewdinese at the start of this season and a 3-0 loss on the first day of the season for Faithfold White, this looks set to be a huge game at St James High School on Sunday. Jewdinese come into the game having conceded 12 goals already in 2 games and it looks as if life in the Premier Division may be harder than they first imagined, however Sunday looks like a fantastic opportunity to put things right with a home game against fellow strugglers Faithfold White. It may be unfair to criticise Faithfold White so early on, however they don't look set to live up to expectations following their fantastic season finishing 2nd last season with the quality improving this year in the Premier Division. We are certain Jewdinese will be fired up for this one and we think its time their strike force including Reiss Mogilner, Zack Collins and Zach Brin started living up to their names and getting Jewdinese back to winning ways. We are backing the home team here, but wouldn't be too surprised if this turned out the other way, expect a tight game here nonetheless!

MGBSFL Prediction: Jewdinese 2-1 Faithfold White

HMH vs Faithfold Blue

@HMH_JYC      @FaithfoldFC

Venue: The Hive

An exciting game lies ahead at The Hive on Sunday and the current Premier Division leaders HMH come into this game in fine form having scored 11 goals in their opening two games. HMH are coming off the back of a 5-0 victory against last season's champions Hendon so we expect spirits will be very high in the HMH camp. Faithfold blue are coming into this game following some mixed results this season so far, after their opening day victory they looked to be a serious contender this season but it seems they were brought back down to earth after their 3-0 loss to MLFC two weeks ago. HMH will know they will need to be on top form to take all 3 points on Sunday and we don't expect a win to come easy here, however if they bring the form they have done in their last 2 games we expect HMH to continue their good form and still be top of the league come Sunday at midday.

HMH Manager Avi Goldberg said "Sunday is a real test for us. The sort of match where in previous seasons we have often come up short which has cost us the league. The lads know this, their intensity at training this week was superb, the Hendon victory is history and they will be looking to apply themselves appropriately on Sunday to make it 3 wins out of 3 so far"

MGBSFL Prediction: HMH 2-0 Faithfold Blue

North London Raiders vs Hendon

@RaidersNorth    @HendonFC

Venue: Ark Academy

This was our choice for 2nd game of the week if there was one! We expect North London Raiders to come out all guns blazing here after a rampant victory last week against Oakwood. Hendon are definitely hurting after their 5-0 loss to HMH two weeks ago, but Hendon aren't champions for no reason so we fully expect them to come out strong in this game with the intention of making a statement away from home. Hendon will hope they have some players back in their squad, but will also look to tighten up at the back, especially with the Raiders front line including Maxim Green and Liron Mannie. We expect a tight game but we are going for Hendon to get back on track with 3 points.

We spoke with Raiders Manager David Isaacs before Sunday "After having a week off for Rosh Hashanah, we now have the small task of trying to overcome the MGBSFL champions from last season. Beating Oakwood in our last game has given us a lot of confidence and we know that if we are on it from minute 1 on Sunday, we will be able to give Hendon a good game on Sunday and hopefully come away with the 3 points. We are finally welcoming back Matt Warner to the squad after he has overcome his recurring back injury which has kept him out of the start of the season"

MGBSFL Prediction: North London Raiders 1-2 Hendon

Division One:

MGBSFL Division One Game of the Week - Mill Hill Dons vs Hertswood Vale

@mh_dons   @HertswoodValeFC

Venue: Brunel University Sport

Our game of the week for Division One is a derby between the Dons and Hertswood Vale, a rivalry that started when both teams joined the MGBSFL back in 2016. They have spent every season since in the same division as each other and now go into a five campaign alongside each other once again. The Dons finished above Vale in both the 2016/17 and 2017/18 campaigns but Vale have finished above their rivals in the previous two campaigns. However the Dons hold the greater head to head record, with Vale winning just once in their last five meetings.

The Dons impressed last time out with a win over PSJ and their manager Brandon Hammé is hopeful they can put up another impressive display on Sunday, “Was really happy with how we performed last time out especially in the first half, we know there are areas of improvement still but really positive about the progress we have made so far this season.” The Dons manager then switched his focus onto their opponents this Sunday “This is the game the fans all wait for, it’s the first game the players look for when the fixtures get released, we are all really looking to the game. I’ve unfortunately had to move out of the air bnb I was renting for free inside Jacob Emanuel’s head due to social distancing restrictions, but rest assured I still give our boys the upper hand come Sunday, we are hungry and desperate for a result. We know Vale are a strong team but we have shown that we are more than capable of getting a result against them in the past and if we show up and put in a solid shift on Sunday, there’s no reason why that should differ.”

Hertswood Vale co-manager Jacob Emanuel also gave his thoughts ahead of Sunday’s game “Looking forward to one of our derbies on Sunday against MH Dons. As is commonplace in our fixtures in the last 5 seasons, both sides will be really up for it and keen to grab the win.” He continued by looking back to their opening fixture last time out and what he described as a frustrating fixture list ahead, “It’s been an interesting start to the season for us so far, with just the one game played, and we’re looking to get that ‘match’ against FC Team a fortnight ago out of our heads as quickly as possible. Since we’re without a game for a further 3 weeks, it will be crucial to pick up the win as we navigate a frustrating fixture list.” This is bound to a feisty affair that could go either way.

Team News:

The Dons will be without Sam Demby, Sam Whiteman, Josh Moses and Josh Cinna who all miss out through injury. Man of the Match from last time out Marc Charles misses out due to an important golfing trip, whilst Harry Moss completes the list of absentees as he enters Exam Season. A number of players are facing late fitness tests for Vale.

Dean Furman’s Prediction: MH Dons 3-1 Hertswood Vale

Borussia Barnet vs Club de Chigwell

@BorussiaBarnet    @ClubDeChigwell

Venue: Bridgestone Arena

We may be in the very early stages of the season but the Borussia Barnet faithful will be delighted to see the team sitting top of the table. Barnet followed their opening day victory over MH Dons with a 4-3 win over Brook Farm Rovers a fortnight ago and they will be looking to continue their 100% start to the season when they come up against Club de Chigwell on Sunday. Chigwell were disappointed after an opening day defeat to PSJ and Josh Dobias knows they are for another challenging game this Sunday, “We know Barnet from our game in the league last year and know they are a good team and should be winning the league this year.”  However Dobias does back his side to bounce back from the opening day disappointment, “However I know the strength of my team and we were very unlucky to not beat PSJ the other week. We’ve had a few weeks off since then and come into the game fresh and ready to show the league what we can do.”

MGBSFL Prediction: Borussia Barnet 2-1 Club de Chigwell

FC Team vs Paris Saint-Jewmain

@FCTeamFC1    @ParisStJewmain

Venue: Aycliffe Park

Both Team and PSJ started their campaigns with wins on the opening day but both dropped points in their second fixtures with Team drawing Hertswood Vale and PSJ losing to the Dons. The Division Two Champions have all the reason to be positive heading into Sunday’s fixture, they impressed last time out and have shown a real physical edge that could give them an advantage throughout the season. Paris Saint-Jewmain did enjoy the majority of the possession in their defeat against the Dons but were unable to create enough clear cut chances, they will be looking to be more effective in the final third come Sunday.

MGBSFL Prediction: FC Team 2-0 Paris Saint-Jewmain

Faithfold Green vs London Bears

@FaithfoldFC    @LondonBears_

Venue: Tempsford Playing Fields

Faithfold Green finally get their season underway this Sunday when they come up against the London Bears. The Bears couldn’t have asked for a better start to the season after dismantling Temple Fortune last time out, “A good win in our last game to kick the season off but we still need to improve,” said Bears’ James Harpin. “Sunday will be a difficult game, we got hammered by Faithfold in the league last year in one of our worst performances as a club. We’re looking to put things right this weekend. We have a strong squad to pick from. Zacki Doumou has now returned to Uni but we believe we have enough quality from the rest of the team to overcome teams like Faithfold. Anything less than a win this Sunday is unacceptable for me.” Faithfold manager Ben Kfir was humorously optimistic against his side’s chances this Sunday “It's not a great idea to have a game so close to Yom Kippur won’t give me enough time to repent and ask for forgiveness for shouting at my squad.”

Team News:

Zacki Doumou and Sam Shackleton have returned to Uni, so both will be unavailable for Sunday’s game. Nathan Davis and Jake Salem are back though so that should help who bolster their attack. Club Captain Daniel Kingsley is almost ready to return after a long layoff through injury.

MGBSFL Prediction: Faithfold Green 1-3 London Bears

Division Two:

FC East London Bees vs Hampstead Ducks - MGBSFL Division Two Game Of The Week

@EastLondonBees        @hampstead_ducks

Venue: Epping Upper Clapton RFC

Our pick for the Division Two game of the week!

FC East London Bees come into Sunday's game off the back of an impressive 6-3 win against West Hendon Wallabies, the perfect way to start life in the MGBSFL. They'll want to pick up from where they left off at their new home ground, with another feast of goals on Sunday against a rejuvenated Hampstead Ducks.

"We’re really excited to welcome the Ducks to our first ever home game at Epping. The squad is brimming with confidence following out thumping win last time out."

Hampstead Ducks took a point from their opening game, and will want to build on their positive start to the season. With some new additions, including Faithfold's Yoav Kestenbaum, they'll be as tough as any to beat this season. They'll have targeted this game to pick up their first league win of the season, in what could be a precious three points come the business end of the season.

"It goes under the radar but the Ducks have turned themselves round over the summer break. From regularly shipping goals they are now undefeated in 6 games, albeit with 5 of those being draws.With a newfound defensive solidity, the focus turns to their attacking threat. And that solution may come in the form of new signing Yoav Kestenbaum all the way from Faithfold in the top division. The Ducks are looking forward to integrating such a potent attacker alongside their steely defence.The East London Bees should provide a stern test for Ducks, not least in the hour-long trip from Hampstead to Upper Epping (Schlepping). Their 6-3 victory on the opening day shouldn’t be taken lightly, and the Ducks will be sure to not give the Bees such an easy ride. As always, the Ducks will be fired up and raring to get their first win of the season on Sunday."

We think the Bees will edge this game on Sunday, lots of goals, with the home side getting the win.

Team News:

Jordan Sapler, Ross Segal, Jay Lawrence and Tom Newman are out, but we welcome back MSFL veteran Liam Stein and new dad back from paternity leave Ollie Segal!

Duck's Marquee signing Yoav Kestenbaum goes straight into Sunday's squad, targeting plenty of goals on his debut.

MGBSFL Prediction: FC East London Bees 4-2 Hampstead Ducks

Dean Furman's Prediction: FC East London Bees 0-2 Hampstead Ducks

NWL Azzurri vs SPEC

@NwlAzzurri        @SPEC_FC

Venue: Spikes Bridge Park

NWL Azzurri will be brimming with confidence ahead of Sunday's game with SPEC. They hammered home double figures, with TEN goals in their opening game with Scrabble, and will want to continue their free scoring form.

Azzurri manager Spencer Saffer, "Looking forward to a testing match against a strong team only recently relegated from Division One. With two key players missing from the squad this weekend, we will test the depth of our squad with a few players out with injury."

On the other hand SPEC also picked up a win in their season opener, narrowly beating Redbridge JC 2-1 in a close game. SPEC made plenty of new signings over the summer, and will be hoping the team continues to gel and goals are a plenty. However, they'll still be looking to MGBSFL veteran striker Zack Neiman to fire them to another win.

SPEC's gaffer Ricky Lawrence knows Sunday will be a tough test for his team, “One game in and they’ve got a +8 goal difference and were apparently unhappy with their performance. I think it’s fair to say it’s going to be a hard game”.

This will be a tight game, but with so many goals in the Azzurri team, we see them edging this one.

MGBSFL Prediction: NWL Azzurri 4-3 SPEC

Scrabble vs Stoke Salmon

@ScrabbleFC        @stokesalmon

Venue: Aycliffe Park

Scrabble will be looking to get back to winning ways after a heavy loss to NWL Azzurri last time out. After picking up an opening day win, they were dissapointed to concede TEN goals to new boys Azzurri last time out.

New boys Stoke Salmon were in free scoring form themselves last time out, scoring EIGHT goals against Straw Hat Pirates. Keeping a clean sheet will be just as valuable as the goals, especially with other teams collecting big wins in Division Two.

We caught up with the Stoke Salmon gaffer ahead of the game, "Sunday is another huge game for the boys. We are desperate to pick up another 3 points and build on the momentum we have. Looking to put in a better performance than our first 2 games and play at something near our best before another break in the calendar. Expecting a tough hard fought game against an experienced Scrabble team who know how to win. They have proven that they have the ability to score goals this year so we are going to have to be at our best if we want all 3 points."

We can see this being a tight affair, plenty of goals but not much to seperate the two teams, score draw.

Team News:

Scrabble manager Jon Yantin hopes to have a full strength squad to pick from this Sunday. They will be counting on Oliver Ziff to continue his fine scoring form.

Stoke Salmon are missing a few key players this Sunday, but are hoping that the rest last weekend will have helped them, "Unfortunately, after a good first game James Gordon will miss out this Sunday due to holiday commitments. Louie Greenham and David Flax will miss out through injury. Other than that, everyone is available and the match day squad will be selected after training on Thursday. Hopefully most the boys have resisted the honey cake over the break and are still in top condition."

MGBSFL Prediction: Scrabble 3-3 Stoke Salmon

West Hendon Wallabies vs Straw Hat Pirates

@WHWallabies        @StrawHatFC

Venue: Copthall Playing Fields

After losing their two opening games, West Hendon Wallabies know that only a win will do this Sunday. With Straw Hat Pirates losing 8-0 in their last game, the Wallabies will go into the game with attacking intent.

Ahead of Sunday's game Wallabies manager said, "This Sunday we play the Straw Hat Pirates. We are very excited for this game as it's a clear opportunity for a win. That said it may not be easy; Stoke Salmon trashed them 8-0 last week so the Pirates might be looking to make a statement. The real question is: do they even have the ability to muster a decent response on the pitch?"

Straw Hat Pirates also lost their opening two games, conceding TEN goals in the process. They'll want to shore up the defence to make sure they aren't on the back of another rout.

We're expecting lots of goals in this one, with the Wallabies securing their first win of the season.

MGBSFL Prediction: West Hendon Wallabies 4-2 Straw Hat Pirates
