Maccabi London FC vs HMH - MGBSFL Premier Division Game Of The Week
Venue: Rowley Lane
This is arguably the biggest game of the season so far in the Premier Division as we see 1st play 2nd as HMH travel to Rowley Lane in what will be their first away game of the season.
Maccabi London FC are the current table toppers and with a 100% record so far they will be going into this game full of confidence. Every week we have said Rowley Lane is one of the toughest places to travel in the MGBSFL and we are standing by that, this will be a close game and one full of quality.
HMH come into this game off the back of a disappointing defeat to Oakwood last week and they will be looking to put things right when they make the short journey to Rowley Lane. Maccabi London have previously not been the kindest of opposition for HMH getting the better of them once last season and some frustrating draws along the way. Avi Goldberg's men will be looking to put things right and get back to winning ways on Sunday. MLFC will look to stop Oscar Wagner who has been in fine goalscoring form this season, however HMH will need to stay strong at the back to stop the power of MLFC.
We spoke with MLFC Manager Max Kyte pre game "This Sunday will be the toughest game of our season and we know how good Avi Goldberg’s team are and the quality of football they play. There’s no denying they are the league favourites and they will be wanting to bounce back from their game against Oakwood last Sunday so we expect them to be raring from the first whistle"
This is going to be an unmissable game and one we simply can't decide on so we are going for a score draw.
Kelly Somers Prediction: Maccabi London to win by 2 goals
MGBSFL Prediction: Maccabi London FC 2-2 HMH
North London Galaxy vs Jewdinese
This game was certainly up there for game of the week and another unmissable game this weekend in the Premier Division. This is the first time Galaxy and Jewdinese will go head to head in the Premier Division following both teams being promoted last season. This game has thrown up some real fantastic football matches over the last few years and we expect this to be full of spirit and quality.
Galaxy come into this Sunday off the back of a defeat to top of the league MLFC, however they will not be too disappointed picking up 4 points to start off their Premier Division campaign. Galaxy Striker Joey Gold will be one to watch this weekend having scored 4 goals already this season and we expect him to be back on the scoresheet this weekend.
Jewdinese are coming off the back of a convincing 9-0 win in the Cyril Anekstein Cup last weekend with their strikeforce of Reiss Mogilner, Scott Oldstein and Zack Collins all on the scoresheet and although we have mentioned it every week, this is one of the best attacking lineups in the MSFL and Galaxy will have their work cut out on Sunday morning.
A tough one to call, but we are going to go for a home victory, Galaxy have impressed so far and we expect them to come away with the 3 points on Sunday
MGBSFL Prediction: North London Galaxy 2-1 Jewdinese

Cyril Anekstein Cup Round One:
Hendon United vs Mill Hill Dons - MGBSFL Game of the Week
Venue: Hadley FC
There is a new manager at the helm of Hendon United after Gabe John’s resignation was accepted late last week. David Garbacz, Hendon United’s most successful manager in the club’s history has returned. During Garbacz’s previous stint as manager, the club won two trebles and even went a whole season unbeaten. Garbacz’s first game back is a first time matchup between the holders and Division One side Mill Hill Dons. “We know what we have to do on Sunday,” said a source within the Hendon camp. “We play our game, get the enjoyment of playing again and we’ll be successful. David Garbacz is buzzing to be back and can’t wait to lead the club back to success.”
Despite being a first time match up, Dons manager Brandon Hammé feels suitably prepared for the game, “We have never come up against Hendon before but they are not a complete unknown to me, I’ve managed several players within their side in the past and because we train on the pitch next to them, I have been Bielsaing their sessions. We obviously know we are in for a tricky game, but anything can happen in the cup. If we keep ourselves disciplined and work hard anything can happen, we have enough quality in the squad that on our day we can give any team a game. We have never got past the first round of the Cyril Anekstein, can’t think of many better ways to break that duck than by knocking out the holders.”
Team News: Hendon are without Josh Bharier, Jonny Kaye and Jordan Mizrachi who all miss out due to COVID. Yehuda Korman, Kiki Levin and Jonti Aremband miss out as well due to injury. The Dons are without Josh Marks who was injured in training this week, he joins Sam Demby and Josh Moses on the sidelines. Sam Whiteman is expected to make his return from injury next week.
Kelly Somers Prediction: Mill Hill Dons Win
MGBSFL Prediction: Hendon United 3-0 Mill Hill Dons
Club de Chigwell vs London Bears
Venue: Seven Kings School
The Club de Chigwell faithful were delighted to finally get their first points of the season last week after an impressive victory over Brook Farm Rovers. “We know a lot about London Bears from last season and they are a dangerous side with very good players,” said Chigwell’s Josh Dobias. “Despite our injuries we will put up a strong fight and be ready to go from minute one.” The Bears also come into this weekend in a jubilant mood after a strong display that saw them gain all three points against FC Team. Bears co-manager Sam Fresco spoke ahead of this Sunday’s game, “After last week's heroics from the boys everyone is really raring to go again this week in what we know will be a difficult game against Chigwell. They picked up their first win of the season last week so I’m sure they will be coming in with a lot of confidence. We plan on really having a title push this season though and these are the games last season we let ourselves down last year so we are looking to put another statement down this weekend and continue to push in the right direction.” A win for the Bears this Sunday will see them move up into the promotion places.
Team News: It’s injuries galore for Chigwell. Josh Klein has undergone a successful operation. Jamie Rones is out injured for a few weeks and Taylor Bedworth is missing this week. The Bears are also short on player but are boosted by returns of Sam Shackleton, Harry Russell and Nathan Anders.
FC Team vs Brook Farm Rovers
Venue: Aycliffe Park
FC Team were defeated for the first time last week by the mood in the camp will be positive after a good start to the campaign, they will be hoping that last week is just a blip in their season. Brook Farm sit 9th in the table but have only played two games so far and Dan Cohen’s men will still be confident that they can have a solid second season in the MGBSFL. A win for FC Team could see them move up into the promotion places if other results go their way, whilst a win for Brook Farm will see them move outside the relegation zone.
MGBSFL Prediction: FC Team 1-1 Brook Farm Rovers
Faithfold Green vs Hertswood Vale
Venue: Tempsford Green
Faithfold Green put on a defensive masterclass last Sunday to keep a high scoring Mill Hill Dons side at bay, they will need a similar performance this week when they come up agains a strong Hertswood Vale side. “We know this game against Hertswood Vale will not be easy but I am confident if we play like we did against Mill Hill Dons we are in contention and we can get a result,” said Faithfold manager Ben Kfir this week. “We just need to be more clinical in the last third and take our chances.” Vale got their first win of the season last week and Jacob Emanuel is hoping his side get another three points this weekend “Looking forward to this weekend's game, against a difficult team in Faithfold Green. They've only played a couple of games so far but have got 2 impressive results against Bears and Dons so we know we'll have to be at our best to beat them on Sunday. 3 points would be a big statement, and we're looking to return home with them. Let's just hope the pitch holds out.”
Team News: Vale are without Charlie Becker, Tony Gold and Ollie Brill, but welcome back Harry Marlow and Dan Reuben for this game.
MGBSFL Prediction: Faithfold Green 1-1 Hertswood Vale
Temple Fortune vs Borussia Barnet
Venue: Silver Jubliee Park
Can Borussia Barnet be stopped? That’s the question that many fans of Division One are beginning to ask. Bradley Papier and Sam Sharer have guided their side to a 100% winning start to the season and as a result lead the table at this early stage. Bradley Papier focused pre match on the impace that Michael Kenley’s season ending injury may have on the side, “With Kenley ruled out for the season, our attacking players know they need to step up. We go into 3 tough away games, Sunday and then a FC Team double header in league and cup. We hope to come out with our 100% away record still intact. Temple Fortune are a solid and resolute side, we won 5-1 and 2-0 in our games against them last year but both we’re tough games. When you want to win the title every game is massive so we are well up for Sunday.” Their opponents Temple Fortune are on the lookout for their first points of the season, they will be up for a challenging game against this high flying Barnet side.
MGBSFL Prediction: Temple Fortune 0-2 Borussia Barnet
NWL Azzurri v FC East London Bees - MGBSFL Division Two Game Of The Week
Venue: Spikes Bridge Park
League leaders NWL Azzurri will be licking their lips at the chance of another league win. The Division Two new boys have been unstoppable in both league and cup and will want to continue their fine form.
However, they know that there are no easy games in this league, after just scrapping past Redbridge JC last Sunday by just a goal.
FC East London Bees were disappointed that their game last Sunday was called off and will have fresh legs going into the biggest test of the season so far against leaders NWL Azzurri.
Azzurri have conceded just four goals this season, and the Bees know they’ll need to be on top form to get past fellow newcomers.
The Bees gave us their thoughts ahead of Sunday's game, “We’re looking forward to getting back out there after our last minute postponement last week against Stoke Salmon. We know that Azzuri are flying and have made an excellent start to the season so this will be a tough test but with a strong squad available we are confident we can compete and produce a performance we know we’re capable of. A few players still unavailable (Sapler, Sumray and Lawrence). We will be setting off on Saturday afternoon in order to make the Sunday 10am kick off.”
We can see plenty of goals in this one, the Bees won’t go down without a fight but an Azzurri win is what we predict.
Kelly Somers Prediction: Draw
MGBSFL Prediction: NWL Azzurri 4-2 FC East London Bees
Hampstead Ducks vs SPEC
Venue: Edgwarebury Park
Hampstead Ducks have been in fine form this season in their league campaign, and go into Sunday’s game with SPEC undefeated with seven points from three games.
They know they face a tough game this week against an experienced SPEC side, but are confident of coming out on top.
The Hampstead Ducks manager gave us his thoughts ahead of Sunday's game, “We were delighted with Sunday’s win as it we achieved our aims of retaining our defensive solidity, and also showed how we are progressing from an attacking perspective. For this Sunday, we’re excited to push on again SPEC which should definitely be a tough game. Most important for us is to continue our momentum in the league.” No specific team news
SPEC come into the game off the back of a much needed win against Scrabble, and will be hoping to pick up from where they left off.
Ricky Lawrence is in a cautious but confident mood ahead of Sunday’s game, “After a narrow victory last week, we'll be hoping to build upon that win against Hampstead Ducks. However, we've never played them before and if their football is as enjoyable as their social media, it's going to be a tricky game."
This one is tough to predict, so we’ll sit on the fence with a score draw, it's likely to be a tight game.
MGBSFL Prediction: Hampstead Ducks 2-2 SPEC
Redbridge Jewish Care vs Stoke Salmon
Venue: Low Hall Sports Ground, Walthamstow
Redbridge Jewish Care were extremely disappointed to lose last Sunday after the pushed leagued leaders NWL Azzurri all the way to lose by just one goal.
However, they’ll be confident they can take the positives and build on their excellent performance last time out to kick start the season.
Redbridge JC’s David Castle gave us his thoughts ahead of Sunday’s game, “Another difficult game coming up against Stoke Salmon who have got off to a great start this season. After coming close to getting something out of our last two games against Fairlop and NWL Azzurri, we know we can give anyone a game and, as always, we will be looking to take all three points and go on a winning run ourselves with 3 consecutive home games coming up. We know that we are better than our results this season have shown so we are looking to show this.”
Stoke Salmon were not too pleased last Sunday’s game was called off, but are confident they can pick up from where they left off and continue their undefeated run.
Salmon sit second in the table, having played a game less than leaders Azzurri, and have conceded just two goals this season. With the team containing some former Redbridge players, they’ll be aiming to get one over their former side.
We caught up with Stoke Salmon’s manager ahead of the game, “With no game on the weekend due to an incredibly early call from the Bees to call the game off claiming that they have a ‘waterlogged pitch’ the boys have had a chance to rest their legs for a mammoth fixture this weekend. With a few of our boys playing for Redbridge last year this one is even more important. We know we face a tough test on the weekend against a Redbridge side who have failed to turn good performances into results this year, coming incredibly close last week against league leaders Azzuri. We will be ready for what will no doubt be a battle on Sunday."
Team news: The goat (Smaje) is a serious doubt still with the same injury. VC Scotty G’s availability will be subject to a late fitness test. Harry Landy not available, Jamie Weiner is another serious doubt and you guessed it LG still unavailable (at this point we just think he doesn’t want to get up). Fair to say we are looking forward to this one. A great chance to show the strength in depth we have in the squad. #SalmonsSundays #COYS”
This is another game with plenty of goals instore, however we see it being a Stoke Salmon win to continue their undefeated streak.
MGBSFL Prediction: Redbridge Jewish Care 2-5 Stoke Salmon
Straw Hat Pirates vs West Hendon Wallabies
Straw Hat Pirates were disappointed to lose last Sunday to Hampstead Ducks, and will see this as a game to turn the season around after picking up just one point from the first four games.
They will be hoping West Hendon Wallabies defence will be the same as the one that lined up against HMH in the cup, in a record breaking defeat.
West Hendon Wallabies are putting the cup defeat behind them, and are glad to get back to the league campaign in Division Two.
They are also winless this season, but have scored plenty of goals, and will know attack will be their best form of defence this Sunday.
“The team are absolutely buzzing for this weeks fixture, with the full squad back in action after time off, training has seen us fine tune our game ready for the W.”
We can't separate these two, a score-draw.
MGBSFL Prediction: Straw Hat Pirates 2-2 West Hendon Wallabies
